As is often said, Memorial Day is the unofficial start to summer. While we remember and observe the solemn reason for the holiday, it’s also a time to socialize with friends and to break out the shorts and sunscreen. Naturally, Las Vegas features an array of peerless attractions all around the Strip from Friday, May 27 to Monday, May 30. Check out the following events occurring throughout the long weekend:
Summer in Sin City means one thing, guaranteed: pool parties. And they are popping off all over the Strip this weekend. Steve Aoki kicks off the weekend early starting from Friday 11am, bringing his electro-house trance to Wet Republic Ultra Pool, located at the MGM Grand. Although renowned around the world, Aoki is practically a local, so this is a perfect spot to get the party started in grand style.
Aoki will also play a full set at the Omnia nightclub, located inside Caesars Palace, on Sunday May 29. Catch him twice!
Elsewhere, Swedish DJ Alessandro “Alesso” Lindblad brings his inimitable melodic progressive and electro house to the 47,000 square foot TAO Beach Dayclub on Saturday. This kicks off Tao’s first summer season in high style. If you can’t wait for Saturday, don’t forget Tao’s “Out of Office” Thursdays. Sit out by the pool or a rented cabana, and enjoy the venue’s signature cocktails and food platters. And remember to stay hydrated.
Saturday brings a taste of Jamaica to the downtown. Located on the roof of the Citrus Grand Pool Deck on N. 3rd Street, “Reggae on the Roof” features DJ Finesse and special guests spinning the best in reggae, reggaeton, Lover’s Rock, and more. The good vibes start at 8pm. Bob in the pool, or just take in the breath-taking view of Vegas.
Rounding out the more noteworthy Memorial Day pool parties, we have to give at least a nod to the brand-new Rosé Sundays, held at the Circa Resort and Casino’s Stadium Swim complex. Featuring six separate pool facilities, Stadium Swim is a resort in itself, with walk-up and swim-up bars, cabanas, lounges and much more.
This Sunday, Stadium Swim and Moët Hennessy inaugurate Rosé Sundays. Held the last Sunday of every month until August, the event will feature a “bottomless Rosé” for the ladies. A nice twist is “pink pong,” which replaces the beer pong of old… with wine. The venue, meanwhile, will be transformed into a lush “Rosé Garden,” with a rosé tower complemented by a flower wall. Enter the Frankie’s Bikini drawing or simply get caught up with the girls (and catch some rays) among its many daybeds.
