The Electric Daisy Carnival celebrates its 23rd anniversary this year. With an announced lineup including EDM superstars like David Guetta, Zedd, and Martin Garrix, EDC enjoys its renown as the largest EDM gathering in the world. Since 2011, an estimated 3 million revelers have attended EDC festivals around the world. This year, EDC lasts from Friday May 15 to Sunday May 17. This year marks the tenth year in which the festival has been held in Sin City. 450,000 revelers attended last year with more expected this year. EDC is the preeminent music festival for fans of electronic dance music (EDM).
Attendees choose from eight different stages to choose from, each of which showcases a different EDM genre. Fans can check out the cosmicMEADOW stage with its emphasis on trap, dubstep, chill tracks, and bass music. This stage opens out on a large, grassy area perfect for dancing. Elsewhere on the ground, fans of cutting edge Hardstyle can get down at the wasteland stage. Hardstyle is an intense, loud, hard-hitting EDM genre with a BPM often exceeding 150BPM. Meanwhile, the main stage kineticFIELD boasts the biggest production affects and attracts fans of festival house and popular EDM tracks. On top of this, there are five more stages to explore.
And EDC offers not just music but an enhanced sensory experience. This year is the first in which promoter Insomniac will utilize all of the 1,000 acre Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This year, EDC offers a campsite, tricked out with ShiftPod2 tents fully equipped with air-conditioning. There’s also an eco-friendly pool to cool campers.
Elsewhere, there are a multitude of events to entertain EDC attendees. You can expect a different and majestic light show at each stage, pulsating in time to the music, as well as pyrotechnics. Don’t forget aerobics, yoga, hula-hoop classes, carnival rides, more than 20 art installations and more.
Headliner David Guetta performs his third Sin City EDC set this year. His first appearance, in 2011, marked the first time EDC was held in Las Vegas after Insomniac moved it from Los Angeles. Called “the godfather of EDM,” his 2019 set proved to be a highlight of the festival. Also headlining is Zedd, aka Anton Zaslavsk, best known for his innovative take on electro house and a 2014 hit single, “Break Free,” produced for vocalist Ariana Grande. Martin Garrix, meanwhile, has gone from strength to strength, being named the winner of DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ’s in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
EDC Las Vegas 2020 promises three expansive nights of magic Under the Electric Sky. Full grounds open at 7:00 p.m and prepare to stay lit all the way to 5:30 a.m. This neon-lit playground promises to be the ultimate destination for dance music fanatics and party people alike.
