A New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas is a New Year’s Eve like no other. People from all over the world fill the Strip and top musical talent fills every nightclub. No matter what type of music you like, you are certain to find a party to suit your taste—performances will range from Calvin Harris to Lil Jon to the Chainsmokers to French Montana.
There are a few things to keep in mind if you’re planning on partying on the Strip on New Year’s Eve:
- Get to the Strip no later than 4 p.m. Street closures happen early, and the Strip is usually closed to traffic by 5 p.m.
- You may have the perfect gold metallic dress to dance the night away to Calvin Harris, but you’ll need to take a coat if you plan on going outside. Vegas may be known for its sweltering heat, but many tourists don’t realize that Sin City gets cold for the winter. This year, the temperature threatens to dip into the mid-30s.
- The Strip is packed, which leaves visitors prey to pickpockets. Make sure you keep your credit cards and other important items somewhere that no one can get to them (like a wrist wallet, a hidden pocket, or an undercover leg wallet). Keeping yourself purse-free will also make it easier to dance, without having to worry about leaving your purse at the table.
There are hot events happening at every nightclub on the Strip. Here are a few highlights:
French Montana will be performing at Marquee Nightclub. Doors open at 9 p.m. The dress code is upscale, so gentlemen should expect to wear a sports jacket with a collared, button-down shirt and dress shoes. Leave baseball caps, shorts, tennis shoes, sneakers, and open-toe shoes (unless you’re a woman) at home.
Ludacris will be performing at Light Nightclub. Doors open at 9 p.m., and guests must arrive no later than midnight to guarantee entry. Guests must bring a printed copy of the scannable ticket, the credit card the ticket was purchased with, and a valid photo I.D. to get in.
Gucci Mane will be performing at Tao Nightclub. Doors open at 9 p.m., and there will be an open bar from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., with passed hors- d’oeuvres until midnight. Tao Nightclub has an upscale dress code on New Year’s Eve. Gentlemen should expect to wear a sports jacket with a collared, button-down shirt and dress shoes (no open-toe shoes, tennis shoes, or sneakers). Don’t expect to get in wearing a baseball cap or shorts, either.
If you are looking for a fireworks show to watch when you get your midnight kiss with that special someone, there will be fireworks launched from the Venetian, Caesar’s Palace, Aria, Treasure Island, MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood, and Stratosphere.
There is nowhere in the world that celebrates New Year’s Eve quite like Las Vegas. Get ready for the night of your life, because New Year’s Eve will be a night you’ll never forget. It is the perfect way to start 2019.
